Am I allowed to keep real grass at my house?
Yes. Nevada Assembly Bill 356 bans Colorado River water from irrigating nonfunctional turf starting January 1, 2027, but that targets decorative grass at commercial and HOA properties, not the lawn at your single-family home. Your grass just has to follow the seasonal watering schedule, and many homeowners convert anyway to cut the water bill and collect the rebate.
How much is the SNWA grass removal rebate?
As of 2026, the Water Smart Landscapes rebate pays single-family homes $5 per square foot for the first 10,000 square feet of grass converted to desert landscaping. Do I have to apply for the rebate before removing my grass?
Yes, and this is the mistake that costs people the money: SNWA has to approve your application and complete a site review while the grass is still in the ground. Remove anything early and that area stops qualifying. Apply first, wait for approval, then schedule the conversion.
What days can I water my lawn in Las Vegas?
Your watering days come from your assigned watering group, a letter from A through F based on where your property sits, and the schedule changes four times a year with the seasons.
